Barretstown Spring Appeal 2009
Our 2009 Spring appeal for Barretstown was a huge success, with income up 42% on the equivalent mailing in 2008.
The pack used a very simple format. The outer envelope was a plain DL, with the line ‘A special request from Barretstown’s Medical Director, Dr. Fin Breatnach‘ printed in the top left corner, and the Barretstown logo in the bottom right. The letter inside was a four page ‘special request’ from Fin asking donors to make a gift to help rebuild the lives of children with cancer. It opened with a heartfelt thank you for the donor’s support in the past before going on the explain how important Barretstown is for children with cancer, and how the tough economic times could put this at risk.
A very simple layout was used – typeset with a handful of simple photos and drawings by children with cancer. The ask amount was linked to the donor’s previous levels of support to create a very personal ask.
A big, clear donation form was included, with a striking image of children enjoying themselves at Barretstown on the reverse.
